Joanna Cotten

Joanna Cotten is a dynamic medley of Memphis R&B vocal prowess, beauty, and infectious charm. She grew up in eastern Arkansas where she was exposed to a diverse range of musical influences. Delta Blues, gospel, country and the classical training she began receiving at five, all share a part of her musical foundation and instincts.

Joanna has been saying "hand me a microphone and show me the stage" since she was five years old. In every kind of venue imaginable, she has honed her craft as a veteran live performer. After high school, Joanna's recording/concert pursuits were interrupted by an offer from, and acceptance of, a full scholarship to study voice at The Juilliard School in New York City. After two years of excelling among her classmates there, Joanna felt the hunger to get back to her roots – pumping out a blend of raucous R&B and tender ballads to a room full of fascinated fans.

She moved back to Nashville, landed an exclusive staff-writer deal with EMI and in July signed an artist deal with Warner Brothers in Nashville. In addition to writing songs for her upcoming album she's also had success in writing songs for others. Recently, she landed a cut on the latest LeAnn Rimes album, which went Gold. She is now working in the studio with Peter Collins, who is producing the new album.
