Brad Paisley, Trisha Yearwood, Josh Turner and Chad Warrix... what do these names have in common? Besides a passion and drive for music, they all attended Belmont University in Nashville and used it to make connections and help create a career in Country Music. Chad Warrix, one half of the duo Halfway to Hazard, hails from just outside of Hazard in Kentucky. Warrix picked up a guitar in the 8th grade changing his life forever and sending him down the road from Kentucky to Music City. Once he was there and had finished his schooling, he met up with old Kentrucky pal and local Hazard area resident, David Tolliver.
The two friends' first song they wrote together "Cold" not only ended up giving them their name (it starts out "Halfway to Hazard with the rain coming down") but it reconnected the two musicians. Chad joined David on stage a few times and Chad's manager noticed the magic of the two on stage. Joining forces, they started playing every Tuesday night at a local club and people took notice. One of those people was Byron Gallimore, producer extraordinaire to Faith Hill, Sugarland, Jo Dee Messina, and his business partner superstar Tim McGraw. The two quickly signed Halfway to Hazard to their new label, Style Sonic and headed into the studio to produce the duo.
8 of the 11 songs on Halfway to Hazard's debut album have Warrix's name as co-writer including the debut single "Daisy" which reached the Top 40.
Singing and playing his heart out is a regular thing for Chad which can be heard on songs like "Die by My Old Hand," "Burn It Down" and "Taking Me On" for an electrifying show take a trip to Halfway to Hazard.
