Brad Paisley was born and raised in Glen Dale, West Virginia. When he was only eight years old, his grandfather gave him a Sears Danelectro Silvertone guitar with an amp in the case. At age 12, he wrote his first song, "Born on Christmas Day," which he performed in church. After performing at a Rotary Club, the program director for the local country station invited him to play on WWVA's "Jamboree USA," the Wheeling-based station's Grand Ole Opry-style Saturday night radio show. Paisley wowed the live crowd and became a regular for eight years, opening shows featuring big name country artists such as Roy Clark, George Jones, Little Jimmy Dickens and Steve Wariner. From age 14-20 Paisley also played the "Jamboree in the Hills" music festival opening shows for dozens of top acts to crowds of 60,000 every year. While attending Belmont University in Nashville, Brad had an internship at ASCAP that led to a meeting with talent scouts from EMI Music Publishing. One week after graduating from Belmont, Paisley signed a songwriting deal with EMI. In 1999 Brad, along with friends Chris DuBois and Frank Rogers, opened Sea Gayle Music (a joint venture publishing company with EMI). He then began recording demos around town and landed a recording contract with Arista Nashville. Brad's first album was released in May of 1999. The critically-acclaimed, RIAA Platinum-certified debut, Who Needs Pictures, was released in 1999. It produced two #1 hits: "He Didn't Have To Be," and "We Danced." Since then Brad has enjoyed numerous accolades including two more Platinum albums: Part II and Mud On The Tires. On February 17, 2001, the singer-songwriter-guitarist was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. As a writer Brad has flourished with numerous hits. He has written three #1 hits and numerous Top 10 songs. Some of his best known work includes "He Didn't Have To Be," "We Danced," "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)," "Celebrity," and "Two People Fell In Love" just to name a few.
His last single, "Alcohol" went top 5 and his latest single, "When I Get Where I'm Going" featuring Dolly Parton is moving up the charts.
